My favourite places in Dublin

Hi guys,

My time as an au pair in Ireland is nearly over. So I thought it could be a nice idea to show you my favourite places here in Dublin, the city where I’ve spent one of the greatest times in my whole live. Hope my video let’s you see a little bit how nice it is here. :-)

And don’t forget to go to the storytelling night of my host dad here in Dublin 😉

Talk to you soon

Another au pairing blog: everywheremel.com

Hi guys,

My blogging colleague Melanie runs an interesting blog all about au pairing at the website everywheremel.com. Melanie was an au pair in the USA and Australia and now is working as a nanny in London. On a regular basis, Melanie interviews au pairs in different countries and other persons involved in au pairing and presents these interviews as part of her blog. Recently she’s had interviews with au pairs in Sydney and Paris as well as with an au pair counsellor working in the USA.

And I’ve been saving the best for last ;-)… Melanie’s latest interview was with me (!) and it’s been published now at her site. You can take a look here at Ellen’s Interview and see what I have to tell. (FYI: The interview is in German.)

Talk to you soon,

Ellen :-)

Sometimes it’s just hard (or how you handle it when you’re missing your boyfriend)

You’re in another country for a longer time and have a boyfriend at home? It’s not easy, is it? And if you’re expecting a solution for this problem in this blog post, I’m sorry but I have to disappoint you. I don’t have a solution. When you love a person, you’ll miss them. That’s just the way it is and sometimes it’s hard. Continue reading

The “orange” nightmare or how good is my English now?

Hi guys,

English is a great language and I think much easier than German. But not as easy as I thought. Sometimes it’s one simple word that I can’t say right. For example, the word “orange”. My host kids always correct me when I say it. It’s just a nightmare because I can’t even hear what I’m saying wrong. 😀 But apart from this, I really like improving my English here in Ireland. What’s the rest of the story? Take a look at my video, where I tell you more.

Things that make me fall in love with Ireland

IMG_3244Hi guys,

When I chose Ireland as my host country with the plan of living here for 6 months, I was pretty sure that it would be a beautiful country and that I would love it. I’m happy to report that I was totally right. There are a lot of things that I love here in Ireland and in Dublin. It’s just a beautiful country.  But what exactly has made me fall in love with it? I’ll tell you: Continue reading

Playing with my host kids

Hi guys,

As we all know, there are lots of things you can do with kids. In my new video I share some of our more playful moments together.  What I like best is giving the kids a chance to be creative. When I was a little one myself, it was always the most fun to create my own games, and that’s what I try to let my host kids do now, too. Sometimes I help them a little bit to get started with some small idea and then they take the story from there. Beside that, we love the classics. Just take a look at the video and you’ll see what I mean :-)

Talk to you soon!

Ellen :-)

PS: What are you doing with your host kids?
